Frequently Asked Questions

Operations

  • Why are there multiple people on an ambulance?

At least two people will arrive on the ambulance: one will drive and the other will provide patient care. Depending on the severity of the patient, additional providers may be necessary. Additionally, members in training will ride with experienced providers.

  • Why do deputies or the fire department show up on scene with an ambulance?

Depending on the type of call, additional resources, such as the fire department or sheriff's office, may be necessary. Our dispatchers may make this decision based on how the caller describes their needs. Sometimes, they may arrive on scene before us.

  • Can I ride in the ambulance to the hospital?

Yes, you may. However, we generally require riders to sit in the passengers seat of our units. You are not allowed to smoke while riding. Please plan accordingly, because we cannot offer rides home following your emergency room visit.
